Virtual Cycle: Lands End to John O’ Groats

I started this to kill a few birds with one stone. First, to get fit and into the right frame of mind for the West Highland Way adventure next year. Second to build strength in my legs and third to lose weight.

Lands End to John O’ Groats (LEJOG) is approximately 1083 miles. I have chosen to do it in 80 days at an overall average of 13 miles a day. I can start out less than that and project I’ll be finishing at 16-20 miles a day. I have also chosen to only use cycling as an exercise source to count towards the goal.

I chose this challenge because it is significant, requires I keep up the exercise every day, and long enough to ingrain the routine.
