Footwear: Not Quite Cracked It, but Close!

So, after yesterdays tremendous success combining my old ankle braces and my foot-ups I pushed the walk further. I added to yesterdays woodland walk by crossing over the farmers fields and running up a cart track that services some housing a few fields over. Doesn’t sound like much but more than doubles the length of the walk. It also adds different walking surfaces and elevation. The point of this is training, so build gradually.

Training: Success!!!

I have been reminded recently that I have a tenacious and relentless attitude once I’m committed to doing something. Failure is just not part of the thought process.

However, I have been worried over the past couple of weeks by the excruciating pain I get in the muscles surrounding my left hip. It has been niggling in the back of my mind how much of a set back it will be to overcome.

I trip over more frequently because the toe of my shoes will catch small lips or protrusions in the ground. Once they catch it’s extremely rare I recover and end up performing a controlled fall 9 times out of 10. It’s much worse if at home and not wearing shoes. The more my feet wobble, or drop (I.E. the more unstable), the more I have to be conscious about lifting them to avoid tripping. This causes issues by putting strain on the muscles in my hips and top of my legs, more my left than right.

Equipment: Fitness Tracking

Back when I was attending the gym 5 days a week for 2 hour sessions the most tracking I used to do was get on the scales to check my weight, or keeping a mental track of how many reps at what weights I was using.

Today there are so many easy ways to get multiple data points that really help with identifying problems and seeing exactly where improvement is coming. I use a few tools to be able to see progress at a glance.
