One of those old lines is very close to where I live and has been turned into a public footpath. Old railways make great walks because they tend to have level footing and shallow inclines. Great for training. The downside is it’s a there and back walk rather than circular, but beggars can’t be choosers.
I’ve worked out I can start in an old wood on the other side of the village. There is an old military road from there down to the railway. Again, straight, level and a very shallow incline.
I’m really pleased with this find as it’s close to home and has all the right ingredients.
I’ll update the header image for this post with a photo from my first walk.
